WHY SHOULD I BE BAPTIZED?
Those who are baptized are following Jesus' example and obeying his command, and laying down their lives to take up the life of Jesus. Baptism is a win - win for the believer.
(Matthew 3:16-17; Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 2)
WHAT IS THE SIGNIFICANCE?
Water baptism is a declaration of five very important things:
You are a follower of Jesus Christ (Acts 2:37-41)
Your sins being washed away. (Acts 2:38)
You are beginning a changed life in Christ (Romans 6; Galatians 2:20)
You are part of a new family and a new identity. (Galatians 3.26-27)
You are given the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38)
I HAVE ALREADY BEEN BAPTIZED. SHOULD I BE BAPTIZED AGAIN?
Your baptism should have signified you becoming a follower of Jesus,
beginning a changed life, having your sins washed away, and uniting with the family of God (the church).
If your baptism did not reflect this change of life, then you should be baptized again.
CAN MY CHILD BE BAPTIZED?
We will baptize anyone who understands that baptism is about following Jesus fully and is ready to make that commitment to him. The age of when someone is ready to be baptized varies, but should always be a response to current faith, and desire to follow Jesus.
CAN MY INFANT BE BAPTIZED?
We follow the example of Jesus:
Jesus was baptized as an adult when it was time for him to begin his ministry (Matthew 3.16-17). Because baptism is a response to faith we believe that infants cannot respond to a current faith system. We do pray over and dedicate children when they are born in our church family.
